Keanu Asing hit the World Qualifying Series hard in 2013 and 2014 with a one-track-mind—make the World Championship Tour or die trying. “This has been my dream since I first started surfing,” smiles Asing. “I put in hard work and not just on a board. I’ve worked on the mental game, the physical, and have done everything I could possibly do to make myself a better surfer, and prove to the world that I belong on the World Tour.”

Asing, who will start his rookie season on the WSL Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour, which starts February 28 on the Gold Coast of Australia at a right hand point break called Snapper Rocks, a spot that appears will suit Keanu’s surfing to a T, “I’m super excited to get to Australia and get some practice at Snapper Rocks,” smiles Asing. “It’s pretty surreal to be living the dream you’ve had since your were a kid, and I’m still so happy and buzzing, but at the same time, I’m ready to get to work and get the jersey back on.”

As a rookie, Keanu will be matched up against the world’s top surfers in his early heats, nothing like jumping right in to the fire! With a hard core work ethic, a consistent and powerful approach to surfing, as well as a smart competitive mindset, Keanu has a great shot at making a real mark on his first year of the World Tour, the young Hawaiian regular footer knows he has a tough road, but as he says, “I may be small in stature, but I’m huge in heart—I’m going in to each and every heat with everything I have, I can’t wait to get started!”
